Oscar Romero was assassinated in San Salvador during a mass. He was the Archbishop there during a terrible time with government protests that ended up in massacres led by the military guards trying to silence the public voice. I added this to the map because Archbishop Romero is now known as a martyr and a saint for his peaceful and praising leadership qualities throughout the hard times in the country. Archbishop Romero suffered, and stood as a voice for the poor, he then died and the public weeped for him. I added this to the map because I thought it represented what we have learned in class such as the common theme of how suffering brings you closer to your religion as well as how governments have turned the other cheek to societal issues and the effect that it leaves on the populous.
