The Central Park 5 is a group of 5 African-American boys that were wrongfully accused in the 1980s of the rape of a women that none of them knew. Most of the boys did not know each other as well, but were forced by police to wrongfully testify against each other. As a result, each of the teens were sentenced for many years for a crime that they did not do. Part of the reason for their prosecution was racism. This caused great psychological pain for the boys as they were locked up for so many years at a young age. They also faced lots of public backlash including racist comments, death threats, and more. On a scale of 1-10 this pain would be a 10.
