In Queens, New York there was a flooding of sewage that included feces. Families were kept up all night pumping the flooded sewage out of their homes in order to save their valuables. This can be seen as an error on the end of the Department of Environmental Protection and their response when asked when the situation would be cleared up was "that they did not know when the issue would be fixed" (Misdary and Guse). Families are still left homeless from this mess that occurred this past weekend and they are struggling to find answers and shelter. I chose to write about this because of the social mistreatment that the residents of this borough are receiving and how this can have a result on their health.
