'It's all gone': Newark residents evacuated after fire guts apartment building
The fire had burned the roof of the building from the back left corner to the right by about 6:20 p.m. Neighbors from the adjacent Fairfield neighborhood were struck by how fast the fire grew.
Firefighters from multiple stations arrived to the scene, flooding Country Club Drive with trucks and ambulances. At least three news helicopters hovered above in the afternoon, and by sunset, blue and red lights engulfed the typically quiet residential area.
