A Sunday night fire that began when sparks flew out of a first-floor fireplace in a Pike Creek townhouse caused significant damage. When Mill Creek Fire Company personnel arrived on the scene, they found the townhouse engulfed in flames, the fire marshal's office said. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but not before it damaged a neighboring townhouse, causing about $250,000 worth of damage to both homes.
