A very well known and liked doctor in Clarksburg West Virginia unintentionally got himself addicted to the opioids he had been prescribing to his patients. In the 1990s he was one of the leading prescriber of pain killers in his region. During the time this was not seen as alarming, but now that the United States is in the middle of an epidemic. He had been uneducated on the effects of these drugs and was only enlightened when he saw his clientele completely changed. He was over prescribing but was only doing what he had been told to do. He later was educated on the true magnitude of these pills and changed his tactics for the better.
