A New York City doctor pleaded guilty to charges that he wrote illicit prescriptions for what prosecutors said amounted to more than 2 million tablets of the opiate painkiller oxycodone, sometimes at a rate of more than 100 prescriptions a day. Emmanuel Lambrakis admitted to conspiring to unlawfully distribute medically unnecessary oxycodone, prosecutors said in announcing his plea Nov. 27. Judge William H. Pauley III of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York accepted the guilty plea the day before. I chose this article, because we covered opioid in class and I thought this article was a good example of opioid in America.
