St. Louis Missouri has one of the highest rates of opioid addiction and overdose deaths in the United States. There are more than 20 drug related deaths per 100,000 residents in St. Louis. In 2014, St. Louis Missouri had 1,067 drug related deaths in 2014 alone. Missouri ranks number one in the rate of prescription drug monitoring program. U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, says she is focusing very much on this epidemic.
