The Bowery Mission is an organization that seeks to help alleviate issues related to homelessness such as unemployment, mental illness, and childhood trauma. This article focuses on the organization's goal to provide compassionate care and long-term recovery programs to those in the Bowery neighborhood of New York City. Members of The Bowery Mission emphasize the role of compassion and investing in the lives of homeless people in order to provide resources and care for those who have the least.

This location is related to the #social aspect of this course because it highlights the responsibility that members of society have to help address the social issue of homelessness. Whether people are homeless as a result of drug addiction, lack of resources, or just plain bad luck, the homeless population in large cities like New York focuses us to come up with appropriate solutions, like the Bowery Mission proposes, that will help us help those in need. On a scale of 1-10 of pain, I would rate this as a 5. While it is difficult for those of us who have stable homes to comprehend the experiences of those who do not, it is clear that this is an issue that impacts not only those who suffer from homelessness, but those in the surrounding areas as well.
