Washington DC has one of the worst opioid problems in the United States. The city had it's peak of drug overdoses in 2017 with 279 people overdosing from opioids, since then there has been a downward trend in overdoses due to the mayor taking action against this epidemic. Many government agencies in Washington DC have been working together to gain control of the situation and try to prevent any more deaths due to opioids. The main way that these agencies are trying to stop the drug use is by developing effective law enforcement strategies that will prevent the supply of opioids into the city. They hope that by doing this they can reduce the amount of drug overdoses and help save as many lives as possible.
