level of pain: 10 because these kids think there is no other way out of these problems other than killing themselves.

In 2017, more Japanese teenagers have killed themselves than in any year since 1986. More than 250 elementary and high school kids took their lives due to issues such as bullying, family problems, and stress. These statistics were taken right after school started. For students who are bullied, summer vacation is amazing to them because they get to stay at home. When schools starts, they endure the bullying and that is when rates of suicide spike the most. The rates have been steady since then. Japan plans to cut the suicide rate by 30% by 2026. They plan to hire counselors for every elementary and high school in the country. Japan is not the only Asian country experiencing this. South Korea has the highest suicide rate in Asia because of intense work cultures. #GEOG203
