George A. Newett was publisher of the Ishpeming Iron Ore newspaper. He was sued by former president Theodore Roosevelt for libel, after Newett printed an editorial accusing Roosevelt of getting "drunk . . . and not that infrequently." Roosevelt prevailed and was awarded 6 cents damages.
