Bay Area Derby Girls is an all female flat-track roller derby league based in Oakland, CA. BAD Girls was founded in 2004 and is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). BAD Girls is a skater owned and operated 501 (c)(3) non-profit league. The league is composed of 4 member teams for intra-league play, and an all-star travel team that competes nationally. The home teams, Oakland Outlaws, San Francisco ShEvil Dead, Richmond Wrecking Belles, and Berkeley Resistance, represent cities in the Bay Area but all the teams practice together in Oakland.
During half-time at the BAD All-Stars v. Montreal bout at the Oakland Convention Center, Mayor Jean Quan proclaimed May 11, 2013 as “Bay Area Derby Girls Day” for Oakland.
