Sister Carol Anne O'Marie (August 28, 1933 – May 27, 2009) was a Catholic nun and a mystery writer.
O'Marie was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
"She wrote eleven novels, whose protagonist is Sister Mary Helen, an elderly Sister who solves crimes. Most of the books are based in San Francisco, California, where O'Marie was born." 1
Sister Carol Anne also ran a shelter for homeless women in Oakland. In 1990 she and Sister Maureen Lyons founded A Friendly Place, a daytime drop-in shelter for homeless women in downtown. In 1996, A Friendly Place expanded to include transitional housing as A Friendly Manor. For their work in caring for homeless women, A Friendly Place won the Jefferson Award in January 2008. 2
Sister Carol Anne died in 2009, and is buried in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
