The Center for Contemporary Music is the home of the Mills College Music Program. It evolved out of the San Francisco Tape Music Center, which in 1966, received a grant from Mills College to move its operations to its campus. Since 1976, The Center for Contemporary music (also known as CCM) has been known for supporting and cultivating experimental approaches in music and media.
Pioneering artists such as Pauline Oliveros, Terry Riley, Maggi Payne, David Behrman, John Cage, and many others have either taught, studied or both at CCM. Its facilities include an analog and digital recording studio, Moog studio, practice rooms, electronics workshop and faculty offices.
