SATURDAY, APRIL 18th, 10am-2pm

2nd ANNUAL EARTH DAY FESTIVAL - CLEAN UP & POTLUCK

Allendale Recreation Center, 3711 Suter Street, Oakland

The Allendale Park Community Council presents an Earth Day Festival! From10am-12pm, join friends and neighbors, young and old, to beautify the Allendale Recreation Center and Park. Volunteers: please bring your own gardening tools and gloves if possible. The City of Oakland will provide bags. Sunscreen provided by Kaiser Permanente.

From 12-2pm, stay for a celebration and potluck. Bring a potluck dish to share, meet new friends, rock out to oldies music and celebrate the wonderful neighborhood.

EARTH DAY - DAY OF SERVICE: MONTCLAIR VILLAGE COMMUNITY CLEAN UP

Montclair Park, 6300 Moraga Ave., Oakland

The Montclair Village Association in partnership with Piedmont Pines Neighborhood Association, the Montclair Lions Club, Keep Oakland Beautiful and the Montclair Recreation Center, asks for community support through volunteerism this Earth Day. 

Tasks include but are not limited to: improving pedestrian sidewalk access along Mountain Blvd., cleaning and clearing overgrowth from CalTrans plants and trees and removing accumulated trash and debris along Moraga Ave. and Mountain Blvd. Please bring gloves, sheers or pruning tools - rakes, litter sticks, latex gloves and bagging supplies provided. 

Stay for the Service Appreciation BBQ at 1pm in Montclair Park.

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION IN MELROSE & MAXWELL PARK

Your Neighborhood Garden, 5154 Ygnacio Ave. at Vicksburg Ave., Oakland

The Melrose and Maxwell Park neighborhoods will be cleaning, beautifying and growing the neighborhood garden located at the corner of Ygnacio Ave. and Vicksburg Ave. Please bring your own gloves, snacks, water and tools (if possible).

EARTH DAY BROOM PULLING ON SKYLINE FIRE TRAIL 

Grass Valley Entrance, Grass Valley Rd. and Skyline Blvd., Oakland

 

Join Fire Department members and board members of the Wildfire Prevention Assessment District (WPAD) to finish pulling broom on the Skyline Fire Trail. We made great progress at our February two-day Broom Pull.

  We hope to complete the trail or make as much progress as possible during the Earth Day Event. Please wear long sleeves, long pants, sturdy shoes, sunscreen and a hat. If you have gloves, loppers and/or a broom puller, please bring them.

RESTORATION AND MONITORING OF WATERCOURSES

Merritt College, 12500 Campus Drive, Oakland

Interested in learning more about watersheds? An "Introduction to Restoration and Monitoring of Watercourses" course will be offered on Sunday, April 19that Merritt College. This is a one-unit, field-based class supplemented by lecture and discussion and will cover how to assess the health of creeks and riparian corridors, as well as an overview of restoration methods.

In an effort to support the environment, specifically in our home community of Oakland, TEECOM has teamed with Old Oakland Neighborhood, The City of Oakland, Shah Kawasaki Architects, and other local businesses to adopt Lafayette Square Park and contribute to its revitalization. Our 2015 Earth Day community service
