The major companies are gone - including five with more than 250 employees - but hte number of small ones has grown. The food-processing sector was one of hte leading activities of hte city, and Oakland is still well suited for it because its infrastructure provides easy and quick shipment of food products and the raw materials are produced in abundance in the region."
