James Mitchell Camp (September 12, 1838-November 6, 1921) was born September 12, 1838 in Dundas, Ontario, Canada, was a well known carriage trimmer in Canada, Ohio, San Francisco, and Oakland. His father Matthew Camp, owned and operated a carriage and wagon shop in Dundas until the mid 1870's. James married Henrietta Jane Gilliland on December 28, 1869. James was a pioneer resident of Oakland, bringing up his 6 children here. His six children include Maude A. W. Foster, James H. Camp, Edna F. Anderson, Nettie I. Berringer, Hazel V. Evans, and Florence V. Brown.
James M. Camp died on November 6, 1921, in Oakland.
