Mi Pueblo Food Center is a huge grocery store in Fruitvale. It includes a carniceria, panaderia, taqueria, and other little stores. Sometimes they have huge grills set up out front with carne asada. It's a huge store that sometimes acts as the go-to latino grocery store for non-Fruitvale-residing gringos. They have fresh masa.
Mi Pueblo is part of the Mi Pueblo Foods grocery store chain based out of San Jose. They were the target of a boycott in 2012.
As of April, 2014, Mi Pueblo has filed for bankruptcy. If they don't get through successfully, they may have to liquidate.
