On May 17th, 2013, Assemblymember Rob Bonta (D-Oakland), Chair of the Select Committee on Gun Violence in the East Bay, is holding a hearing in Oakland to examine the root causes of gun violence and identify effective strategies to reduce it. The hearing – Progress and Challenges to Addressing Gun Violence in the East Bay – will consist of an overview of gun violence in California, with an emphasis on successfully implemented programs to address the issue both in the East Bay and statewide.
