Various items extracted from Lake Merritt by volunteers of the Lake Merritt Institute:

  • A piano
  • A dead cat in a box, alongside pictures of said cat
  • A dumpster
  • Mannequin heads
  • Various pieces of furniture
  • Over 60 electronic scooters
    • Do not do this! The battery casing can degrade, releasing toxins into the lake
    • A no-parking zone around Lake Merritt for e-scooters was initiated for this reason
  • Bikes
  • Mattresses
  • Clothing
  • Chairs
  • Misc litter, ex: cigarette butts
