Western Baptist Bible College was in Oakland from c.1946 to 1956. In 1956, it moved to El Cerrito, 3 and then to Salem, OR, and is now known as Corban University. 1
It had property at 528 - 33rd St. as well as some nearby apartments.
In 1948, they opened the First Independent Baptist Church in what had been the Christian and Missionary Alliance Gospel Tabernacle. 4
Dr. H.O. Van Gilder was the first full-time president of the college, and the first pastor of the church. 2
