Youth Portal is a partnership involving OaklandWiki.org, Code for Oakland, Youth UpRising and the City of Oakland.

The goal of the portal is to update directories the City maintains and makes available to the public.  The directories contain information on hundreds of agencies and organizations providing services, such as:

  • shelters for the homeless
  • food pantries
  • youth and senior programs.

Unfortunately, many of these directories are not up-to-date.  And because of City budget shortages, they will not be updated.  Fortunately, a group of youth from Youth UpRising will be taking on this task.  They will be updating the directories that will then be available to the public on Oakland Wiki. Here is an example of what an updated service organization entry looks like : A Friendly Place.
