Underwater Sports

Underwater Sports is providing the largest PADI 5-Star dive and swim facilities in the Pacific Northwest. the staff tests all the brands

in Scuba and snorkeling gear and hand picks the best to make diving a delight. They  work hard to answer any question you can think up!

Their History in a Nutshell In the 1950s, despite growing interest in diving, there was nowhere in Seattle to get dive-training or supplies.

Divers had to rely on mail order catalogues for all their gear. Local skin-diving legend Gary Keffler- champion sport diver and professional

commercial diver, decided to fill this need and turned his love of diving into a Seattle institution- Underwater Sports. Gary built a one-stop

shop for all things diving: professional equipment, superb training, and underwater adventure. Today, Underwater Sports continues to provide

phenomenal dive-training and products to clients worldwide including 1st responders such as local police, fire departments and harbor patrol.

Mudshark’s Club:

The name MudSharks was chosen to reflect the long love for diving in the Pacific Northwest. Originally, Underwater Sports owner, Gary Keffler,

helped start MudSharks as a local competitive spear fishing team. The first Mudsharks gained fame in contests around the world and even won

the (now long gone) Sea Fair Spear fishing Tournament of 1957.

Mudshark’s  Mission:

The MudSharks Dive Club provides everyone a chance to get together and get excited about everything diving.

They host a variety of events and talks by diving pros, as well as trips to little known dive-sites. Mudshark members

enjoy rich diving experiences and build great, lasting friendships.

Classes:

With the largest number of instructional teams in the world, Underwater Sports and the staff of experienced Pacific Northwest

divers are ready to assist you in learning to scuba dive. They offer a variety of classes for all ages and skill levels. Here are some classes they offer:

1-     Open Water Scuba:

The Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.

2-    Advanced Diver:

This course builds on what you’ve learned and develops new capabilities by introducing you to new activities and new ways to have fun scuba diving.

Challenging and rewarding best describe the rescue diver course. Using what you have already learned this course expands

on topics like how to prevent problems and how to manage them if they occur.

diving begins with the divemaster program. Working closely with an instructor, this program expands your dive knowledge and hones your skills to a professional level.

two knowledge development presentations and one open water teaching presentations integrating two skills.
