George W. Palmer (c. 1841-1889) was a soldier who fought for the Union during the Civil War. He was born in Knox County, Indiana and enlisted in the army in 1861 when he was twenty years old. He served for three years as a private in Company B of the 33rd Indiana Infantry Regiment. His enlistment record describes him as 5'8 with light hair and blue eyes. He went home when the regiment was mustered out on September 19, 1864. His wife was Mary. E. Palmer. The available records do not say when he came to live in Arkansas. He died on March 19, 1889 and is buried at the Powhatan cemetery.
