(circa 1910; 1962; 1986)

Original Architect Unknown; James M. Edwards; Shawcroft-Taylor

The old Kress store was renovated first for the Olivia Raney Library, then for state offices (today occupied by Transportation Technology). The old form of the building is still evident under the precast concrete of the renovation. The simplified forms, the horizontal grouping of the window openings, and the single, long span of the first floor opening are characteristics of modern architecture in this intelligent renovation.
