Peavine Mountain, located in North Reno, is on of the many mountains that surrounds the Reno/Sparks area. It was named after the peavine trees that grow around the summit's natural springs. Peavine Mountain is mostly know for off- road vehicle recreation, but climbing to the top is another popular activity. The elevation to the summit is 8,266 feet and the road to the top is around 7 miles, but the view is what makes it worth it. In addition to hiking to the top, walking around the trails at the base of the mountain can be very scenic, especially in the summer. There are mountain biking trails that surround the mountain as well.
