Southgate Library
Established
1975

Southgate Library opened at its present location one block south of Florin Mall in 1975. Just a few blocks from the Florin Road exit of Highway 99, the library is easily accessible by public transportation and has plenty of vehicle parking space.

The branch serves an ethnically diverse population of more than 75,000 south county residents spread over 52 square miles. The library has a large collection of Vietnamese materials, and other non-English materials are in Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and Hmong.

The library branch’s children's area has been transformed into a Family Place Library, a developmentally appropriate learning space for very young children (ages 0 to 5 years) and their parents. The space also features interactive materials and wall-mounted learning toys to support young children’s development and a special materials collection for parents of young children.

Books and magazines are sold year-round in our lobby by the Friends of Southgate Library. The money raised is used to support the library by paying for programs and purchasing books and other materials.
