Oakland Estuary is the body of water separating Oakland from Alameda connecting San Francisco Bay to San Leandro Bay. It is a very busy strip of water with container ships visiting the Port of Oakland and on a sunny day you'll see many sailboats and motorboats out to enjoy the sun from their nearby docks in Oakland and Alameda.

Note: If you are headed south on the estuary, the bridges have very low clearance - some as low as 16feet. So you can't take this nice calm shortcut to San Leandro Bay if you have a tall boat.
