Bringing together key social service agencies that support children and families in Niles Township to help provide a safe and secure community

 

Participating Organizations:

Alateen
Al-Anon (for adults) and Alateen (for teens) is a Twelve Step program for the relatives and friends of alcoholics or someone who is or has been a problem drinker. Anyone who thinks they are or have been affected by a relative or friend’s drinking, is welcome to attend. Alateen meetings are closed to adults, except one or two Alateen sponsors available for guidance. The teens conduct their own meetings, and support one another using the 12 Steps and other tools of the program.

The Education Foundation, serving the students of Niles Township
The mission of The Education Foundation is to develop, acquire and distribute financial aid and other resources to support and enhance the quality and effectiveness of education for the benefit of Niles Township students.  1 out of 3 students needs financial assistance and qualifies for the free and reduced lunch program.  Since April 2007, the Foundation has provided more than $200,000 to assist students in need.

Jewish Child & Family Services (JCFS)
JCFS provides help, healing and caring services infused with Jewish values to strengthen lives in the Jewish community and the community at large.  Highly trained staff, including speech pathologists, occupational therapists, teachers and social workers, collaborate to provide services in childcare & education, counseling & support, residential & child welfare, and services for people with disabilities.

Lincolnwood Public Library
The Lincolnwood Public Library offers a wealth of information and resources.  Please stop by our information table to learn about our upcoming summer programs, homework assistance, and other opportunities.

Metropolitan Family Services
Metropolitan Family Services provides a comprehensive range of programs and services that help families through difficult times.  Some of the services available are: family and individual counseling; elder abuse investigation; social policy-community development; employee assistance network; adoption preservation; legal services to very low income families; psychiatric help for children.  Therapy is available in both English and Spanish.

Niles Township High School District 219
Representatives from the Student Assistance Program (SAP) will be available.  This program helps identify, counsel, and refer students with substance abuse or other social-emotional problems.  The coordinators work closely with experts in local agencies and other qualified staff.  Additionally, SAP coordinates community service work for students on suspension or code of conduct reduction programs.       

National Alliance on Mental Illness Cook County North Suburban
NAMI CCNS’s mission is to improve the lives of those that suffer from a mental illness and those that care for them.   NAMI CCNS provides support and information to persons with mental illnesses, as well as their families.  It is a local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and NAMI Illinois.  Numerous free programs, including classes focusing on parents and caregivers of adolescents, or adults with a mental illness, support groups, school programs, hospital programs and other educational programs are offered throughout the year. 

Niles Township Schools ELL Parent Center
This unique parent center provides one-stop shopping to parents and adult relatives living with students in Niles Township’s participating school districts.  Programs and services include FREE English, computer, and citizenship classes, Positive Parenting & Homework Help, health literacy education, U.S. school information and childcare.  Interpreters are available upon request.

Orthodox Christian Coalition for Healthy Youth (OCCHY)
Orthodox Christian Coalition for Healthy Youth is a Faith Based organization with the primary prevention substance focus of HOOKAH SMOKING as well as tobacco, alcohol & other drugs.  OCCHY is funded by a grant from the federal government.  In addition to H.S. District 219 and the townships of Niles, Lincolnwood & Skokie, OCCHY’s target area covers the 80 Orthodox Christian parishes throughout the Greater Chicago Area, bordering from Indiana on the South and Wisconsin on the North. These parishes cover multiple ethnic and cultural populations.  

PEER Services
PEER Services is a substance abuse prevention and treatment agency, assisting teens and adults in developing and maintaining a drug-free lifestyle with a dependable support system.  The professional staff includes certified prevention specialists, certified substance abuse counselors, licensed clinical social workers, licensed clinical professional counselors, physicians, nurses and family therapists. PEER Services is licensed by the State of Illinois to provide outpatient and intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment. PEER Services is accredited by the Joint Commission.  Private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid accepted.  This year, under a special grant from United Way and the Illinois Department of Public Health, PEER Services has trained counselors certified to help individuals and families enroll for health benefits under the Get Covered Illinois Initiative.  Stop by our table to learn how easy it is to apply for coverage with the help of one of our certified enrollment counselors.

Riveredge Hospital
Riveredge Hospital is a behavioral health hospital providing acute inpatient stabilization to Children, Adolescents, Adults, Older Adults, Adults with an Intellectual Disability and Adults with a Co-Occurring Disorder (Mental Illness/Substance Abuse). We also provide Partial Hospitalization to children and adolescents and Intensive Outpatient to adolescents. Our treatment philosophy is steeped in Trauma Informed Care which includes providing holistic care including Expressive Therapies (Dance/Movement, Art, Drama) and Animal Assisted Therapy in additional to individual, family and group therapy. Response
Response  supports adolescents ages 12-21 and their families by providing prevention, outreach, counseling, and adolescent sexual health services in a teen-friendly environment as well as outreach and prevention topics in schools and communities.

Skokie Park District
Skokie Park District has many programs and activities for teens, including homework help, games, computers, field trips, teen dances and summer camps. 

Skokie Public Library
Skokie Public Library supports lifelong learning, discovery and enrichment through a broad spectrum of materials, technologies and experiences. The library supports young adults in the community through a wide variety of interest-based programs and events, including after school drop-in spaces and activities.

Turning Point
Turning Point was established in 1969 as a community mental health center and primarily serves clients in Skokie, Morton Grove, Lincolnwood, Niles, and Evanston.  An array of mental health services are offered including:  outpatient individual and group therapy for all ages, psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring, case management, crisis services, psychosocial rehabilitation groups, and a small residential living program.

Village of Skokie, Office of Human Services
The Human Services Office provides several services to the residents of Skokie, including a community giving program benefiting low-income families; youth outreach program; crisis counseling and case management; social work services; disability services; lending closet; home delivered meals; senior bus service; income tax for seniors; referrals and advocacy.
