ARBOR DAY

Arbor Day activities are an annual event here in Tallahassee, and are a joint venture of the city/county/ and the Department of Agricultural Extension Service.  They involve planting normally a minimum of 100 - 120 plants and trees.  The planting events take place in one of our local parks, and volunteers are recruited to bring their shovels, gloves, and willingness to be outdoors for a morning.  A temporary watering system is placed in the area, and the bigger holes are already dug so folks just need to plant the plants, push soil around them, and mulch them.  Hopefully, the volunteers will check on their "trees and shrubs"  during the year.
