FLORIDA GREEN ACADEMY (FGA)

Our lives are becoming more and more aware of ways to conserve, and to embrace the greening of our country, state, and town.  If you are looking for opportunities to learn a great deal about this green economy then FGA is the place for you.  The Academy is now training the green collar worker for tomorrows green economy.North American Board of Certified Energy Professionals gave their endorsement to not only the concept, but the courses.

The Academy was established in 2009 by Tallahassee Community College as a direct response to both industry and labor demand for alternative energy and sustainaility oriented career training.  The Academy began by offering courses in solar photovaltaics and solar water heating.  Enhancment of these courses included hands-on laboratories where solar Pv and solar thermal panels were explored.  In the building construction area, the Academy offers courses in the Green Environment, along with Sustainable Construction Supervisor program. They also offer courses in weatherization of existing and new buildings at bothe the entry and advanced technican levels.

Once trainees complete their course of study successfully they are then eligible to sit for the exams required by each national level.  Certification in each area are determined by the national organization.
