FLORIDA MEMORY

The Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services, has created FLORIDA MEMORY to provide online access to primary records that involve significant moments in Florida's history.  By visiting FLORIDA MEMORY, you can explore the state's rich history through historic documents, photographs, audio recordings, video, and educational resources for teachers and students of all ages.  It brings our archives out to all the people in Florida.  There are over 170,000 images from the Florida Photographic Collestion, which includes at least 30,000 items on Tallahassee.  The video archives have 2000 films, which can be viewed free of charge.  There are 105 full length films. 

There are over 1500 sound recordings of music performances, oral histories and over 50 years of the Florida Folk Festival.  All can be downloaded free of charge.  There is also access to archival collections, including veterans' records, land grants, family papers, etc. 

Educational units and resource guides have been designed to help educators bring primary sources into the classroom.
