The Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park is owned by the Northwest Florida Water Management District and maintained by the City of Tallahassee. The City is tasked with preserving and managing the property as part of the Lake Jackson watershed. The Park has over 10 miles of multi-use trails (hiking, biking and equestrian) and 7 miles of dedicated hiking trails.

The Redbug Off Road Bike Trail is approximately 3 miles long. This trail is technically challenging with numerous roots, rocks and wetland areas contributing to its difficulty rating. Beginners should be prepared to dismount in several areas of the trail. Please remember to always wear a helmet for safety.

The Redbug Off Road Bike Trail meanders through several diverse ecosystems as it continuously changes in topography. Users will trek through a longleaf pine ecosystem, home to the red-cockaded woodpecker. As the trail drops in elevation, moisture-loving trees such as the beech and southern magnolia dominate. Numerous animals live and forage in these valuable ecosystems, however, it is in your best interest to keep your eyes on the trail as the copious roots can cause a nasty fall. The trail meanders through several wetlands where boardwalks are required to cross running creeks.

The Redbug Off Road Bike Trail can be accessed from Meridian Park or Forestmeadows Sports Complex. Parking, restrooms and drinking water are available.
