THRIFT WEEK

Our local branch of the James Madison Institute has a weeklong traditional event that revolves around the week that Benjamin Franklin's birthday occurs.  His birth date is January 17th.  The week has been designed to coincide with Franklin's birthday and is meant to teach children the importance of saving money.  He is considered America's foremost proponent of thrift.  He was our first promoter of being thrifty and being frugal.

Each year members of the JM Institute offer their services to a local elementary school and teach thriftiness through interactive "Jeopardy style" games.  A supplemental thrift curriculum entiteld "All About the Benjamins" is provided at no charge to local schools.
