The European Union Film Festival is sponsored by Consulates and Cultural Institutes of the European Union member countries in Toronto.
2011 is their seventh year, Screenings happen Between November 17 and November 30, 2011.
Nightly film screenings take place at the Royal Cinema, 608 College Street West in Little Italy at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Admission is free. 
Tickets are handed out 1 hour before each showtime by the volunteer standing in front of the box office on a first come first serve basis. There are reserved seating in the middle of the theatre, which may be freed up and made available at the last minute for latecomers standing outside without tickets.
If people like the film they just watched, they can drop their ticket stub into buckets held by volunteers in the lobby to vote for that film. Votes are tallied up and the film with the most votes wins an audience appreciation award, which is later announced on their website.
The choice of films shown are often the best from each country in the past few years, high quality. All films are sub-titled in english.
Before each film begins, a speaker introduces the film standing in the spotlight in the front right corner of the stage. The speaker usually is the Consul General of the country where that film is from.
