Horse Palace

15 Nova Scotia Avenue , Exhibition Place

Designed by Architect J.J. Woolnough.

Since its construction in 1931, the Horse Palace has remained one of the finest Art Deco Buildings in Toronto.

Current residents include the Mounted Unit of the Toronto Police, the South Division of Toronto Animal Services and the Exhibition Riding Academy.

In the summer of 2004, Exhibition Place constructed a Green Roof on the historic Horse Palace.

This 2,500 square foot "meadow" is a pilot project. The intent is to replicate this initiative on other Exhibition Place roofs.

Another pilot project undertaken in 2006 resulted in the construction of a 100 kilowatt Pilot Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation Plant on the roof of the Horse Palace.

A larger 1.5 - 2 million kilowatt generation system for the grounds is under consideration.
