Every day, Second Harvest picks up donated, surplus fresh and frozen food (which would otherwise go to waste) and delivers that food to 215 social service programs in Toronto. Second Harvest currently provides food for 19,000 meals a day to children in breakfast programs, seniors on fixed incomes, women fleeing domestic abuse, people with mental illness, homeless people, and many others who have fallen on hard times.
Second Harvest does not receive on-going funding from the Government or United Way. They rely on private and corporate donations and the funds received from fundraisers like Lunch Money Days and Toronto Taste.
