Sorauren Park Fieldhouse Public Information Meeting

When: Saturday January 17, 2009 at 2 p.m.

Sorauren Park Fieldhouse, 50 Wabash Avenue

The fieldhouse in Roncesvalles Village’s Sorauren Park opened last year and provides public washrooms, storage, meeting spaces and a kitchen for park visiters. The building used to be home to the offices for the Canadian Linseed Oil company, but has been renovated in to a useful public space. There will be an information session this weekend to discuss how visiters and members of the community can use this space.

Meet with representatives of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation to have your questions answered:

• who can rent out the Fieldhouse

• permit policies and procedures

• how much does it cost

• what times are available

The following facilities, programs and events are offered at Sorauren Park:

  1. soccer field

  2. baseball diamond

  3. tennis courts

  4. Fieldhouse with washrooms and meeting space

  5. jogging path

  6. off-leash dog walking area

  7. drinking fountains (summer) and benches

  8. Holly Jones Memorial Garden

  9. The Sorauren Park Festival takes place on the third Saturday in July and offers children’s games, a flea market, music stage and beer gardens/food service.

The Sorauren Park Association runs the children’s soccer and t-ball leagues, ages 4 to 13, in partnership with the City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation. Registration is through Parks, Forestry and Recreation in early March. Programs are listed in the City of Toronto’s spring/summer Fun Guide.

Parks, Forestry and Recreation also runs tennis lessons at the public tennis courts. Details are listed in the City’s Fun Guide. The courts are available to the public.

Depending on availability, your group may be able to apply for a permit to use the soccer and baseball fields. Contact Parks, Forestry and Recreation for details.

The famous Pumpkin Parade takes place every Nov. 1. Bring your jack-o-lantern to the park to add to the parade, and enjoy the spectacle of hundreds of lit pumpkins along the route!
