Owen Park is Tulsa's first park. It offers a great playground, water playground (a splash pad with more equipment), Owen Park Pond, and Tulsa's Oldest House. The closed community center there is scheduled to become the new home of the Tulsa Children's Museum.
According to the Tulsa Parks History site, Owen Park Lake (later shrunk to Owen Park Pond) was built on a crater from an accidental nitroglycerine explosion on January 23rd, 1904. The city purchased the land from Chauncey Owen and Mary Owen in 1909 for $13,500.
