John W. (Jack) Anderson acquired the West Tulsa News in May of 1927, six months after Red Fork was annexed to the City of Tulsa. A prolonged strike by workers at the Mid-Continent Petroleum in 1936 caused a serious decline in revenue. The paper began to carry the lectures on Christian Science delivered in Tulsa, increasing subscriptions both locally and internationally.
