Cycling in most of Vallejo is neither convenient nor safe. Few parts of town have bike lanes, and many roads (especially downtown and main streets) are in poor shape. The eastern part of town has much smoother streets, but it also has some steep hills. Transferring from the street to the sidewalk is often complicated by curbs that have no break in between blocks. Local drivers are not accustomed to sharing the road with cyclists.

The waterfront has a very short but scenic paved path that pedestrians also use.
