The Fishhook is part of the interchange between Highway 17 and SR 1 in Santa Cruz. It is an unusual turn in the road in the that radius of curvature varies through the turn. Drivers need to pay attention or things get exciting. In recent years it has been the site of several accidents involving big rigs - one coming off an overpass onto the freeway below - and even a UCSC student protest. Commute traffic through the fishhook can be awful, so plan ahead.
