Cantor Regina Lambert-Hayut is so excited to join the staff at Temple Beth Emeth in July 2014.  A member of the graduation class of 2002 from the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music of the Hebrew Union College, Cantor Hayut served as a student as well an ordained cantor in several congregations in Bergen County, NJ including the Barnert Temple in Franklin Lakes and Temple Beth Or in Washington Township.  Born and raised in Jericho, NY, Cantor Hayut was deeply involved with synagogue life from a young age, singing with her childhood temple’s junior and adult choirs and was featured regularly as a soloist during Friday evening services.  Her interest in the cantorate peaked from her work as a soloist at Temple Sinai in Massapequa, NY as well as the encouragement she received from the cantors with whom she sang in the Cantors’ Ensemble of Long Island.  Cantor Hayut graduated from Swarthmore College with a degree in biological chemistry but chose after graduation to return to her first love – music. She has been a serious music student since childhood, both as a cellist and then later as a student of vocal music.  But her love of singing came early on in her life when, at the age of 7 she began singing Yiddish songs taught to her by her grandmothers. Cantor Hayut and her family, husband, Avishay, and sons, Yoav and Alon all look forward to discovering the joys of Ann Arbor and being a part of the Temple Beth Emeth family.
