Cornwell Coal Company was started by Frank Cornwell, who sold it to two employees, Carl Visel and Leona Schlafer, in the 1940s. Schlafer left in 1961, and Visel and his family closed the coal business in the early 1960s to focus on their swimming pool business, still running today as Cornwell Pool & Patio.
The 1915 Polk Directory shows a coal yard for F I Cornwell at 410 Miller Avenue.
