Doug Boynton (born 1952) is a semi-retired journalist and marketer. A 1970 graduate of Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, he is an Eastern Michigan University alum, and also attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
While still in high school, he worked as an afternoon news anchor at WNRS-WNRZ radio (now WLBY and WWWW), becoming News Director in 1971. He was News Director at WAAM radio 1972-1977; then at WHNE and WNIS radio stations in Norfolk, Virginia, 1977-1988. Returning to Michigan in 1988, he became Vice President for Operations at Metro Networks, the largest provider of local content to radio and TV stations in the US. In 2002, Boynton moved to the Washington, DC area to become Director of Marketing at the US Broadcasting Board of Governors, parent agency to Voice of America and the other US International Broadcasters.
Now semi-retired, and a journalist and on-air anchor for WHRV-FM in Norfolk, Virginia. Boynton and his wife, Gail, make their home in Virginia.
