After 115 years of live music and radio at the corner of Main and Liberty, AnnArborAlive and A3Radio staff and supporters will be hosting an Farewell Open House July 11, 5-10pm at 106 E. Liberty Ste. 303 in the former WPAG radio studios as they prepare for a move to more affordable space. Liquids and light refreshments will be available and acoustic music will be provided by a variety of local musicians. A raffle of local memorabilia will be held.

Looking out over the corner of Main and Liberty from high atop the Hutzel Building, and the former home of the WPAG radio, this studio has been a center of local live music, community involvement and radio for over 65 years. Many local celebrities made their start in this location, including Lucy Ann Lance and the father of modern day talk radio, community activist, and Michigan Broadcast Hall of Famer Ted Heusel. For the last 16 years musicians, music lovers, and Ann Arbor area loyalists have flocked to the studios creating a groundswell of community resurgence though support of local music, community events like the Community Tent, Radio Free Bacon, live broadcasts from Main St. and much more. The original WPAG sound studios have been steadfastly preserved and are currently filled with memorabilia harking pack to the hippy days of old. Economic situations are forcing the move to more affordable offices and the staff and supporters of A2A and A3Radio would like to pay tribute to the long, rich, and meaningful history of one of the cornerstones of Ann Arbor culture.
