Dulin, 73, was the first African American lay principal of a Catholic School in the nation. He has served as an officer and member of numerous boards and organizations, including on an advisory team to presidential candidate Al Gore. He also founded National African American Parent Involvement Day in November 1995 to encourage black parents to be involved in their children's education.
