The fictional Pennington College is the setting for the 2008 filming of a Rob Schneider film The Virgin on Bourbon Street; the U of Michigan campus was used as part of the set.

A real Pennington College was established in Pennington, Trinity County, Texas, in 1866. Pennington College, though well respected, was never a large school. Its highest enrollment was more than 100 students in 1873, after which ensued a steady decline.
