(Andrew) Clock got in contact with the Friends of the Border-to-Border trail organization and city officials, and started the Water Street Trail Project. He gathered volunteers and in conjunction with the City, procured a $2,000 sidewalk improvement grant from the Michigan Department of Community Health's Building Healthy Communities program. "At first people thought he was a little bit unrealistic," said Bob Krzewinski, director of the Friends of the Border-to-Border trail organization. "He just kept on persevering and the trail - the first phase of it is built right now, and it's a real asset to the community."
